Heidi the Doula

Heidi the doula was incredible. I believe she was truly sent by a guardian angel. She not only dove right into the labor process with me, but was fully present from start to finish. She was calm yet motivating. She provided insight into understanding how my contractions were going, communication with the nurses and a positive outlook regardless of my birthing plan completely going out the window. As my husband had to go between the hospital and our home to be with our other child, I could’ve been alone to labor, but Heidi ensured that I was never alone to go through such a hard experience. She provided guidance when needed and pushed me to trust my body. She helped guide me through contractions and taught me how to work with them, rather than against them. When contractions were exceptionally painful, she used counter pressure to help my body manage pain and actively kept communicating with me to ensure the placement and strength of counter pressure was comfortable. She trusted her instincts and helped guide me. Without her instinct and positive spirit, I could have given up on trusting my body to labor naturally. She was such a huge presence for me throughout such a long and difficult process and truly was a labor partner, not just a doula.
